APG Congratulates Elizabeth Fowler on Her Appointment to Director of CMMI

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Don Crane, President and CEO of America’s Physician Groups (APG), on the appointment of Elizabeth Fowler to serve as Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).

“APG congratulates Elizabeth Fowler on her appointment as the new Director of CMMI. Ms. Fowler brings a vast wealth of experience and knowledge in the healthcare field which will be of great benefit to both CMMI and the Biden administration.

“As health costs continue to skyrocket, CMMI’s role in driving our healthcare system toward value-based models of care and away from the unsustainable fee-for-service system is vital. With the Medicare Trust Fund facing insolvency by 2024, it is more important than ever to modify the current payment models to bring down health costs.

“APG looks forward to continuing our work with CMMI in developing new and innovative payment models that help decrease healthcare costs, improve quality of care, and transform the nation’s healthcare system into one that rewards value over volume.”
