Dr. Carlos Hernandez, M.D. is a Laredo, Texas native who has been a physician leader at WellMed since 2001. He was named President of WellMed Medical Group in 2009. During his tenure at WellMed, Dr. Hernandez has served as Chief of Medical Affairs, Medical Director and Lead Physician, among other roles. He supervises more than 450 physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners for WellMed Medical Group.
Dr. Hernandez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. He is a Fellow with the American College of Physicians, the largest society of internists in the world. He also has a master’s degree in Health Care Management from the University of Texas at Dallas.
