Colin Toney, MBA

Colin Toney is the President of Optum Value Based Care (VBC) at Optum Health.  VBC provides integrated primary, specialty, behavioral, and ambulatory surgical care in clinics, at home and virtually.  Colin is responsible for the company’s VBC strategy, performance, while also leading teams across payer, network, and Original Medicare ACOs.

Prior to joining Optum, Colin led network at Centene as Executive Vice President of Network and Partnerships and was responsible for network strategy, development, and operations.  He oversaw national contracting, reimbursement strategy, and value-based care arrangements covering approximately 8 million members.

Earlier at Centene, Colin led M&A as Executive Vice President of M&A, overseeing acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments across healthcare, technology, and provider services.  He led acquisitions representing over $25 billion in capital, along with significant portfolio optimization efforts, including 10 divestitures representing $6 billion in proceeds.  Colin also established a strategic venture capital partnership to invest in early-stage healthcare innovation.

Before Centene, Colin worked at the investment banking firm Allen & Company LLC in New York, where he advised companies in healthcare, technology, media, and sports industries on M&A and capital raising activities representing over $30 billion of capital.  Colin also previously worked for the investment banking firm Stephens Inc. in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana State University.
