As AltaMed Health Services’ representative to APG, Dr. Cristian Rico brings more than two decades of clinical and executive leadership in physician-led, value-based care. He serves as President and Chief Medical Officer of Omnicare Medical Group, an affiliate of AltaMed Health Services and a delegated-risk physician organization serving Southern California communities through capitated contracts, with accountability for clinical strategy, quality, utilization and medical management, physician alignment, payer performance, and financial outcomes.
During a 15-year leadership progression at AltaMed, Dr. Rico served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, overseeing enterprise clinical strategy, quality, peer review, utilization management, and physician leadership across more than 50 sites serving over 290,000 patients. His work advances quality, affordability, and health equity through population health, payer-provider collaboration, and disciplined risk management.
A board-certified family physician, Dr. Rico maintains an active clinical practice. He earned his medical degree from the Charles R. Drew/UCLA School of Medicine, completed his Family Medicine residency at White Memorial Medical Center, and is a Fellow of the UCSF Institute for Physician Leadership. He is pursuing an MBA through the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
