Dinesh Kumar is currently the Chief Medical Officer of Astrana Health where he is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and responsible for total cost of care, quality, risk adjustment, utilization management, care management and disease management. His primary focus is on providing high quality care and decreasing total cost of care by building care delivery teams and care models to address the needs of the Astrana membership.
He is a veteran leader in the value-based care space with the unique perspective of having spent time in shaping the growth and operations on both provider side as well as the payor side of the healthcare eco system. He has been at the forefront of value-based healthcare, with extensive experience in creating innovative care models to improve clinical outcomes while decreasing the total cost of care.
Dinesh is a dynamic healthcare executive who is known for his sharp insights and his ability to grow and scale teams while at the same time identify and address opportunities to improve MLR and G&A. He has worked across the healthcare ecosystem building solutions to deliver better care at a lower cost for commercial, Medicare and Medicaid populations, and has also worked with founders to evolve initial business models into scalable, sustainable growth strategies. He has been an innovative clinical and operating leader and identified the needs of the organizations to scale across markets as well as start new lines of business to support the revenue growth.
Dinesh served as the CMO and COO at Alignment Health where he was a part of the leadership team for 5 years. He has had leadership roles in Davita Medical group including SVP, Clinical transformation of Davita Medical Group where he helped create a new startup in Philadelphia, Davita Health Solutions which helped take risk for the top 10% of the IBC lives in Philadelphia. He held various senior leadership roles in HealthCare Partners and Davita Medical group including being the P&L owner for the CA operations as well as CMO of the CA market
Dinesh is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Pulmonary and Critical Cre Medicine.
He resides in Henderson, Nevada with his wife and they are parents to 2 young adults.
