With more than 25 years of executive leadership in healthcare organizations, Jim Brown is the Chief Executive Officer for Prospect Medical Systems, Inc. Under his leadership since 2016, Prospect has exceeded all expectations. Prospect’s physician network has almost doubled in size making it one of the largest networks in the country. Prospect has recently grown to over 500,000 members and 7,000 physicians, and now owns or manages 20 Independent Physician Associations (IPAs)/Risk Bearing Entities. Although the bulk of Prospect’s presence is in Southern CA, Prospect also owns or supports IPAs in Texas, Rhode Island, and Arizona. Prospect also produces a high quality of care and exceptional service for its members, with significant improvement in quality across all lines of business including Medicare (Star), Medicaid and Commercial quality measures and winning numerous quality awards. Prospect is fully compliant in each functional area, per all health plan and state audits, and achieved America’s Physician Group (“APG”) Elite status 11 years in a row. Prospect expects to continue to grow and improve performance through its MSO (Prospect Medical Systems), Medical Groups/IPAs, or Health Plan (Prospect Health Plan).
Prior to joining Prospect, Jim was the first President of Humana Medicare Health Plans of California. He was the Chief Operating Officer of both LA Care Health Plan in Los Angeles and Presbyterian Health Plan in New Mexico and the leader of various IPA’s and Medical groups in California.
He earned a Master of Public Health from University of California at Los Angeles and a Master of Business Administration from San Francisco State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, both
from the University of California at Davis. Jim has also been active with community boards, including serving on the Board of Directors of America’s Physician Groups (APG) and the UCLA School of Public Health, Health Services Alumni Association.
