Suzanne Ffolkes

Suzanne Ffolkes is the vice president of communications for America’s Physician Groups (APG), where she leads strategic communications for the organization.  APG is a national association representing more than 300 physician groups that comprise nearly 260,000 physicians and other clinicians providing care to nearly 90 million patients, or approximately one in four Americans. APG’s motto, ‘Taking Responsibility for America’s Health,’ represents members’ commitment to providing comprehensive health care to patients while being held accountable for costs and quality of care.

In her role, Suzanne advances APG’s broad awareness of the organization’s mission and key initiatives through powerful and substantive communication with key audiences. She reports directly to Susan Dentzer, APG’s president and chief executive officer.

Suzanne has spent more than 20 years in health communications, advocacy, and education.  Prior to joining APG, she was assistant dean for strategic affairs and public engagement at Florida Atlantic University College of Nursing, overseeing communications, marketing, and strategic planning, among other areas. She continues to lecture on communications as an adjunct faculty member at Florida Atlantic University College of Arts and Letters and College of Business.  She previously served as chief communications officer at The Optical Society (now Optica), a physics and engineering organization, and as vice president of communications at Research!America, where she led advocacy and science communication initiatives designed to increase public and policymaker support for medical and health research.

Suzanne has served on the board of the Science Communication Trainers Network and the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Advisory Board. She holds a Master of Arts in public communication and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C. and earned a Strategic Leadership certificate from the Harvard University Division of Continuing Education.
